"This day came rather quickly," Sebastian pointed out, a small smile gracing his lips as he slipped Ciel's shoe over the master's foot. Ciel shrugged.

"Well, do remember that this is only the wedding rehearsal."

Sebastian nodded, adjusting his master's collar with a lingering smile. "You've grown a bit too fast," he joked lightly. "Almost nineteen already, my lord." Ciel shrugged. Sebastian went on, "and Lady Elizabeth has grown just as much, if not more." Ciel shrugged again, biting his lip. Sebastian used one hand to lift his chin and mutter to him, "what's wrong?"

Ciel pushed his hand away. "I've said this before, and I'll say it again. I never wanted her to be my fiance. I never had a choice."

Sebastian cocked his head. "So you're not going to marry her?"

Ciel glared at him. "It's not like I can just back out of the wedding, especially since we've been engaged for almost our whole lives." He rubbed his hands together, pausing to trace a finger around his blue ring. "Still..."

Sebastian thought for a moment. "She truly loves you, my lord."

Ciel shook his head. "That doesn't help, Sebastian."

Sebastian stood up, bowing to Ciel. "My apologies."

Ciel sighed. "The actual wedding is in two days," he reminded Sebastian. "And until then, we have several arrangements with Elizabeth, starting with a boat ride tomorrow afternoon."

Sebastian nodded. "Yes, I haven't forgotten."

Ciel was worried greatly, for a reason he'd never admit. He'd fallen in love with his butler over the course of the years, and was about to promise his heart to a woman. He knew that at any time he could have told Sebastian, or asked for advice very vaguely, but it was pointless.

So, all he could do was force a smile and say "I do."

***

Sebastian, Lizzy and Ciel stepped into the small boat. Lizzy giggled and traced her hand through the water as it moved downstream, and Ciel felt a twinge of guilt. He really did love her, but not in that way. He could never love her in that way.

"Isn't it lovely out today, Ciel?"

Ciel nodded, pulling a small smile. "Yes, Elizabeth, gorgeous."

Lizzy's eyes reflected the colorful fish swimming below the boat, and her smile widened. "Our wedding is the day after tomorrow, Ciel. Aren't you excited?" Ciel didn't get a chance to answer before she asked, "will Sebastian be your best man?"

Ciel shrugged, looking away. "I'm not sure, Elizabeth."
Lizzy sighed. "Lizzy," she corrected him. Ciel nodded. Suddenly, there was a sharp bump on the edge of the boat, and Ciel and Lizzy were both thrown to the floor. Lizzy sat up, rubbing her head where it had hit the wooden bottom of the boat. "That really h..."

She looked up to see Sebastian clutching Ciel close to him, Ciel clinging right back, his eyes shut tight as he clutched the butler's clothing, burying himself in Sebastian's chest. They looked so cute. Ciel's eyes shot open. At first he held onto the demon, but then, remembering Lizzy was there, pushed Sebastian away, wiping himself off and adjusting his bow. "S-sorry about that," he muttered.

"No, it's...it's no problem," Elizabeth replied, her eyes wide and her head tilted to one side. "You looked adorable, hugging Sebastian like that."

Ciel blushed hard, exclaiming, "I thought I was going to fall!"

Sebastian walked up behind him, placing a hand on his shoulder and whispering to him, "I would have caught you either way." Ciel pushed him away with an embarrassed grunt, looking at the bottom of the boat, trying to hide how dark red is face was.

Lizzy smiled. "So, Ciel, what flavor cake do you want for the wedding?"

Ciel looked up, smiling halfheartedly. "Chocolate," he replied, his eyes dull.

Lizzy nodded, but felt something stir inside of her. Why couldn't she make Ciel smile like Sebastian could? What was she missing? I'm his fiance, she thought bitterly. So I need to make him happy!

They weren't off of the boat until the sun had set, and Sebastian was heading back to the mansion, leaving Lizzy and Ciel for a few minutes of alone time. Lizzy intertwined her fingers with Ciel's, resting her forehead against his and smiling. "I love you," she told him, and Ciel clenched his jaw.

"I..." Lizzy's heart dropped when the grip Ciel had on her hands loosened, until he stepped back. "I'll see you tomorrow," he told her.

"Wait, Ciel?" Lizzy grabbed his wrist, pulling him in and kissing him. She stepped back after the kiss, her eyes gleaming hopefully. Ciel licked his lips once, closing his eyes. "What was that for?"

Lizzy's eyes widened, and glazed with sadness. "You're going to be my husband in two days, Ciel...so I can kiss you, right?"

Ciel nodded. "Yes, of course."

She felt tears building up as Ciel took a few steps back. "I'm going home. I have to get some sleep for our dates tomorrow."

Lizzy nodded. "Alright."

Ciel hesitated. "Will you be alright here?"

Elizabeth shrugged. "Paula will be here soon." When Ciel turned away, Sebastian was waiting not far off, and Elizabeth saw him pick up Ciel, holding him close to his chest like a child, carrying him down the path that would eventually lead them to the mansion.

She clenched her fists, feeling a wave of anger flow through her again. But this time, it came with something else; a sense of understanding, and even concern. As the stars came out and the breeze picked up, Lizzy relaxed, feeling herself beginning to understand. Still, she found herself running after them, her heart racing.

***

"Aren't you hungry?" Sebastian placed Ciel on the couch.

The Earl rubbed his temples. "Famished," he replied. "Is Bardroy awake?"

Sebastian shook his head. "No, but allow me to cook you dinner, my lord."

Ciel shrugged. "Do what you'd like, Sebastian."

Sebastian headed to the kitchen. He was feeling almost overwhelmed.

I'm not capable of feeling human emotion, he thought, feeling a powerful mix of confusion and anger. So why is it so upsetting that my master is marrying soon? He chopped up a few carrots, thinking hard. Well, that's not necessarily true. I feel happiness, when I'm with my lord, or taking care of him. I felt anger when he was taken from me by Angela, and yearning for his soul. So, is it possible that I'm experiencing a new emotion?

He stirred the vegetables in the pot, his breaths short with frustration. I'm in love with my master, aren't I? He put in some spices. I was so sure that demons were incapable of such emotions. Jealousy, sadness...love. He scooped some of his meal into a bowl. But I'm feeling all three, seeing my master and his fiance together like that. It...it drives me crazy.

When he re-entered the living room, Elizabeth was there with Ciel, and he clutched the spoon tightly in his hand as she threw her arms around him in a gleeful hug. "Thank you, Ciel! Oh, thank you!" She kissed his cheek in multiple places, and Ciel had a look of unease on his face.

No, my lord. Don't look like that.

He brought the food to Ciel, who accepted it gratefully. Sebastian stepped back, watching Lizzy and Ciel converse, feelings he didn't know he could have rising into his throat, but being swallowed back down as quickly as they had come. Ciel looked genuinely content now, and Sebastian smiled a little from where he stood by the staircase.

You do care about her, my lord. I know you do. Even if not in that way. So please, don't look so unhappy. It...pains me.

Truthfully, Sebastian had been pondering over his feelings for a long time, but he knew if he were to tell Ciel, it would be shrugged off, or he'd be laughed at. How would his master respond to a love confession from his butler? Odds are, not in a good way.

"Lady Elizabeth is staying the night." Ciel's voice broke Sebastian's thoughts, and he looked down to see Ciel looking at him, with Lizzy clutching his hand a few inches behind him.

"Oh? Will she be sleeping in your room?"

Lizzy shook her head. "I'd like the guest room, if you don't mind, Sebastian."

Sebastian's eyes widened in surprise. "Right then. Come along, I'll set you up. My lord, would you please wait in your room to be dressed?"

Ciel nodded, heading up the stairs at a much quicker pace than Lizzy and Sebastian. He walked at a much slower pace down the hall to his room, suddenly deep in thought.

I...I want Sebastian to sleep beside me tonight.

He clutched his shirt, looking at the floor. "How am I supposed to tell him that?" His voice echoed off of the walls as he walked into his room, closing the door behind him and burying his face in the pillow. "I'm in love with him! I'm in love with him!" He repeated the words into his pillow, desperately needing to reveal his secret to someone. Something.

"My lord." Sebastian opened the door, and Ciel sat up, clearing his throat and gazing across the room at him.

"Sebastian." He held his arm out, and his butler rolled back the sleeves before unbuttoning the shirt and pulling it off of him. "Sebastian, I know this may sound...weird." He felt his pants slide off, and then felt the reassuring warmth of the nightshirt slip over his head. "But I want you to..."

He fidgeted his fingers a little. "Sleep beside me tonight." Sebastian's eyes widened a little, and he smiled, chuckling quietly. "Sleep beside you, my lord?" Ciel nodded. "Yes," he replied. "...please."

Sebastian, in all of the years he'd been caring for Ciel, had never heard his master say please to him. He felt a rush of happiness that made him laugh a little. "Of course, my lord." He stood up, bowing.

Ciel crawled under the blankets, suddenly feeling awkward. Sebastian lay beside him almost at once, but didn't get under the covers, nor did he change into pajamas. "Do you...sleep in that?" He tugged at the butler uniform.

"No," Sebastian replied. "I sleep half naked." Ciel blushed hard, looking away as Sebastian continued, "do you mind if I change out of my clothes then?"

Ciel shrugged, squeezing his eyes closed. "Do what you'd like."

It wasn't long until he felt Sebastian's bare chest against his body under the covers, and reddened quickly. "Do...do demons even sleep?"

Sebastian shook his head. "As a luxury, maybe, but it's not required." He pulled Ciel close to him, rolling him over so he was eye to eye with his master. "Don't categorize demons, though, my lord."

Ciel suddenly felt Sebastian's lips on his own, and his eyes widened. Sebastian didn't pull away, but neither did Ciel. Their mouths opened and closed, Ciel getting darker red with every movement. Finally, he wrapped both arms around Sebastian, pulling him closer, burying himself into the warm man, kissing back as gently as he could.

Finally, he pulled away, his heart racing. "Sebastian, I..."

Sebastian used one hand to hold him against his chest. "Go to sleep now, my lord." Ciel nodded. There was no point in arguing, anyways.

From outside in the hallway, Lizzy had been watching, her eyes wide. "I..." she stepped back, her eyes still wide. "I always wondered, but I never..." she clutched the side of her nightgown, fighting back tears. She had no more words, so she rushed awal, her feet lightly pattering on the carpet as she ran down the hallway and down the stairs to the guest room. "What am I going to do?"

***

"So, Ciel?" Lizzy grabbed his hand when the Earl came downstairs, dressed up for the eve of their wedding. "Remember the plan for today?" Ciel nodded, smiling. Lizzy noticed something right away; this smile was genuine. He was happy. That infuriated her. "So, what do you want to do first?"

Ciel thought. "How about the picnic first, and then we'll go to the park?"

Lizzy smiled. "Sounds amazing, Ciel!" She giggled, hugging him, rubbing her head on his chest with a happy sigh. Inside of her felt twisted and sick, but she also felt more of that understanding she had felt before. It's...becoming clearer what I have to do..

The picnic was set up quickly. Sebastian stood several yards away, looking through binoculars over the lake while Ciel and Lizzy ate. "So," Lizzy began after a long silence, "how did you sleep last night?"

Ciel shrugged. "Fine, I suppose."

Lizzy nodded, her head cocked. "Do you like the food? Paula helped me make it."

Ciel nodded, taking another bite of his biscuit. "It's fine," he replied.

Elizabeth strained her voice. "Do you need anything to drink?"

Ciel shook his head. "No, thank you though."

There was another long silence, and Elizabeth finally blurted, "if we're getting married, why are you forcing small talk with me?!"

Ciel's eyes narrowed. "I'm sorry, Elizabeth. What would you like to talk about?"

Lizzy's eyes narrowed. There was so much she could say, but she would never interrogate her fiance like that. "How about the wedding tomorrow?"

Ciel nodded. "Alright then, what about it?"

Lizzy shrugged. "How do you feel about it?"

Ciel thought for a while, debating whether or not to lie to her. "It'll be a new experience," he replied honestly.

Lizzy wanted to shatter the cup she was holding, but smiled and nodded.

"My lord, there are storm clouds rolling in. If you wish to go to the park, I'd suggest we leave now."

Ciel nodded, licking his lips. "Right. Lady Elizabeth, shall we go?"

"Lizzy," she muttered, folding up napkins with food in them and placing them in the picnic basket. "Sure, we might as well."

Ciel nodded, still smiling. "Sebastian, would you take our things back to the mansion?"

Sebastian nodded. "Yes, my lord."

He picked up the supplies, hurrying off through the woods to the mansion. Lizzy and Ciel made their way along the lakeside to the park, which was mainly a big grass field with a single tree in the middle of it. There was a swing tied to that tree that the kids loved to use, but Ciel and Lizzy never payed much attention to it.

"My lord."

Lizzy gasped. "Sebastian?! You're back already?!"

Sebastian nodded, smiling. "Yes, my lady. Might I have a word with your fiance?"

She huffed out a breath, muttering her approval. Sebastian lead Ciel across the field, whispering something in his ear. Lizzy knew now exactly what she should do.

***

"Sebastian, are we really...?" Ciel was cut off as Sebastian kissed him again, swiping his tongue around the inside of his master's mouth.

"Keep quiet, my lord," he warned. Ciel figured that Sebastian was only doing this because he'd figured out that Ciel liked him. Loved him...

But Ciel knew better than anyone that no matter how much he yearned for the butler to love him back, it could never happen. So he made due with the false affection, along with the guilt of betraying his fiance. The marriage is arranged, he thought, trying to reassure himself. I don't love her. He kissed back with fiery passion. I love him. I love this man. Demon. Butler. He pulled down Sebastian's neck, desperately tasting him as their tongues fought for dominance.

Even though the guilt of what he did was strong, the love for Sebastian, the craving of making this man his, was stronger than anything he'd felt before.

"Sebastian, we can't do this tomorrow."

Sebastian nodded, pausing to look him in the eye. "I know."

Ciel felt the demon's tongue on his neck and wrapped his arms around the demon's neck, resting his head on Sebastian's shoulder. "I wish demons could feel how I feel right now."

Sebastian stopped, his eyes wide with surprise. "My lord? Was that a confession?"

Ciel blushed and looked away. "Don't question me."

Sebastian looked down. "Didn't I tell you not to categorize demons?"

Ciel blinked. "What?"

Sebastian stood up. "I--"

There was a loud thud from the living room, and Ciel jolted up. "What was that?!"

Sebastian buttoned up his shirt, hurrying down the stairs. Ciel lay back on his bed, running a hand through his hair. "What am I doing?" He thought things over. "Why did Sebastian kiss me last night? Does that mean he likes me, too?" He scoffed. "Impossible." He rolled over. "But then...there has to be a reason he's doing this..."

Before he knew it, he had fallen asleep.

***

Wedding bells rang. Family seated themselves for the wedding, and Ciel felt a knot of apprehension. Whether he loved her or not, marriage was a big deal.

"Are you ready, my lord?"

Ciel saw Sebastian approach him. The butler was wearing a suit, different from his normal one, because he was the best man. "As I'll ever be," he replied.

He stood at the altar not long after, his chest tight with an inexpiable emotion. Elizabeth walked down the aisle, her usually curly hair straightened and her long white dress flowing behind her. Ciel noted immediately that she looked...sad. She looked sad. He didn't say anything as she approached and stood beside him, facing him with glazed eyes.

"Dearly Beloved, we are gathered together here in the sign of God – and in the face of this company – to join together this man and this woman in holy matrimony, which is commended to be honorable among all men; and therefore – is not by any – to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly – but reverently, discreetly, advisedly and solemnly." The Priest began reading out of his booklet, and Lizzy grabbed Ciel's hands, intertwining her fingers with his.

Ciel really wished he could love her.

"...speak now, or forever hold their peace."

Ciel instinctively shot a glance at Sebastian, but the butler said nothing, only kept his eyes closed and his smile wide. Ciel felt his chest tighten as the Minister asked the question; "Do you, Ciel Phantomhive, take Elizabeth Midford to be your wife – to live together after God’s ordinance – in the holy estate of matrimony? Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer, for better, for worse, in sadness and in joy, to cherish and continually bestow upon her your heart’s deepest devotion, forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto her as long as you both shall live?"

Ciel sighed inwardly. "I do," he replied.

Lizzy's heart almost stopped beating when the Minister repeated the question. "I..." she pulled her hands away from Ciel's slowly, letting them fall to her side. "I don't."

There were gasps of shock from the audience, and they murmured between themselves. Ciel's eyes were wide, his jaw gaping slightly.

Elizabeth looked at the floor. "Ciel..." she looked up at him, her eyes glazed over with tears that had yet to fall. "Ciel, I know you don't want to do this." Her voice was shaking. "You love Sebastian, not me."

Sebastian's head tilted to one side with keen interest as Ciel replied, "that's..."

Lizzy covered his mouth. "I know you do, so don't even deny it, Ciel. The way he holds you, and you hold him, the way he treats you so gently, how he's been beside you forever. The way you two look at one another. It's the warmest love I've ever seen, and it doesn't belong to me."

Ciel was speechless, and Sebastian's eyes were wide. "So you knew," he murmured under his breath.

Lizzy sighed. "Ciel, I'm not marrying someone whose heart belongs to another." She stepped off of the altar, her footsteps fading as she hurried down the aisle and into the ballroom. Ciel stood there, his mouth slightly open.

"My lord." Sebastian was beside him now, giving him a concerned look. "Are you alright?"

Ciel nodded, then looked over at Sebastian. "Say it."

Sebastian raised a brow. "Say what?"

Ciel's eyes shut tightly. "I do."

Sebastian coughed. For the first time in his life, ever, he felt flustered. "I...do."

Ciel smiled. "Minister?"

The Minister looked at them, as if he was trying to process what had just happened. A few people in the audience murmured until someone asked, "is this happening?"

The Minister smiled. "If they love each other as much as the ex-bride said, then I see no reason why I can't marry these two." He turned to them. "I now pronounce you husband and husband. You may kiss the groom."

Ciel had tears streaming from his eyes as he kissed Sebastian, his head still whirling with the shock of everything that was happening, but gradually melting away in the arms of his lover.

***

Lizzy walked through the dark ballroom, looking at the floor. Suddenly, she bumped into someone.

"I'm so sorry, I--"

Alois turned and looked at her, his eyes wide with confusion. "Elizabeth," he greeted. "You look...shaken. What's the matter?"

Lizzy shrugged. "Just lonely."

Music chimed on, and the lights dimmed. Claude stood by the stereo, smiling mischievously at the two young people.

Alois pulled a sideways smile, holding out his hand to Lizzy. "Would you care for a dance, my lady?"

Lizzy smiled, wiping a tear from her cheek and taking Alois's hand.
...
Well, this is something ^^
No, I don't ship Lizzy x Alois, btw~
**I feel like I should explain**

I really, /really/ hate Lizzy. I just...she drives me /insane./ I want to ring her /neck./ BUT, I can't make her OOC just for that reason, and I can't make her end up alone. So, I gave her Alois. Kind of. I hope you like what I scrapped together here though ^^ and your comments are appreciated, even if I don't reply!!

Sorry, I'm just ... I'm just so lazy..

This is interesting, but I have a question. Why do some people ship Ciel and Sebastian? He was a child when they first met, so don't you think that would've been considered grooming even though this is an anime we're talking about; instead of it being about real life? It would've been different if they were both adults at the time. I actually would've shipped the relationship too, if that were the case; since yaoi is one of my new favorite things and they would've been perfect for each other, if only there wasn't that large of an age gap. I don't mean any offense by this. In fact, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I just personally disagree with this pairing, and I want to understand why other people like the idea at the same time that's all.  Also, I've got to point out that most of the characters in this story were being pretty progressive for the Victorian Era; especially the minister who just decided to go with the flow, and marry Sebastian and Ciel despite their relationship not being traditional. I have no problem with that, by the way. I've just noticed that, that seemed out of place historically. But, I'll let it slide since it's your fan fiction and you obviously wanted it to be historically unrealistic. Or maybe there were people back then who accepted that, but they weren't in the majority. Also, thank you for adding some of my stories to your favorites. What specifically were your favorite parts about them?
